More About AAPM Policies
AAPM Code of Ethics
AAPM endorses the American Medical Association’s Code of Medical Ethics, which guides physicians to meet the ethical challenges of medical practice, as well as the Council of Medical Specialty Societies’ Code for Interactions with Companies. AAPM is also an ACCME-accredited provider and adheres to specific standards related to commercial support.
Committees and Task Forces Policies
AAPM member-driven committees, task forces, and shared interest groups (SIGs) abide by specified expectations to benefit the advancement of Pain Medicine advocacy, research, and education. AAPM member leaders (past, present, and future) may only represent AAPM’s viewpoints when specifically authorized by the AAPM Board or its designee. In all instances of publishing, speaking, or expressing opinions, member leaders must clearly distinguish whether the viewpoints they express are personal or represent AAPM.
Educational Planning Policy
It is the policy of AAPM to plan and implement educational activities in accordance with the ACCME to ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor. AAPM provides CME through our joint accreditation partner Amedco, and the Academy may receive commercial support from industry, but does not receive guidance, either nuanced or direct, on the content of the activity or on who should deliver the content.
