Member Focus December 2024

This month, AAPM is proud to spotlight Dr. Nicholas Canzanello, a dedicated physiatrist, educator, and rising leader within AAPM who exemplifies the impact of AAPM’s investment in future generations of pain medicine professionals.

Dr. Canzanello serves in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, where he works to advance patient-centered, interdisciplinary care through physical medicine and rehabilitation. His clinical mission is clear:

“I strive to improve the quality of life for each and every patient.”

His journey with AAPM began as a participant in the AAPM Scholars Program, a formative experience that not only shaped his clinical perspective but also inspired him to give back. Today, Dr. Canzanello serves as Chair of the AAPM Scholars Steering Committee, where he helps mentor emerging pain physicians and build opportunities for early-career engagement and leadership.

Deeply committed to education, Dr. Canzanello is eager to stay involved in shaping the Academy’s future. He considers AAPM his professional “home” among pain societies and continues to seek ways to contribute to its mission through meaningful leadership roles.

Dr. Canzanello’s blend of clinical compassion, educational vision, and steady leadership is exactly what the field of pain medicine needs to thrive. We’re honored to feature him in this month’s Member Focus.

Nominate a fellow AAPM member who exemplifies our mission to advance multidisciplinary pain care innovation, education, advocacy, and research by completing the nomination form here.
