Position Overview

Ochsner Health is seeking a physician leader to lead and continue building its Interventional Pain Medicine Fellowship while developing a clinical career within an expanding, high-referral interventional pain practice.

The fellowship was named the 2025 AAPM Best Fellowship Program, recognizing the program’s commitment to training, mentorship, and clinical excellence. Ochsner is seeking a BC/BE Anesthesiologist or PM&R physician, fellowship-trained in Interventional Pain Management, to serve as the next Fellowship Program Director.

Leadership Opportunity: This role combines fellowship leadership, protected academic time, clinical practice, research, mentorship, and the opportunity to help shape the future of medical education within Louisiana’s largest academic health system.

The Role

  • Lead Ochsner’s ACGME-accredited Interventional Pain Medicine Fellowship.
  • Practice at Ochsner Health Center – Elmwood and Ochsner Medical Complex – Clearview.
  • Receive protected academic time as part of the role.
  • Provide interventional and comprehensive pain care in both outpatient and perioperative settings.
  • Work within an expanding referral network and multidisciplinary clinical environment.
  • Provide mentorship and education to fellows and residents.
  • Help shape fellowship strategy, including budget, scheduling, reporting, and program growth.
  • Collaborate with system service line leadership and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Join the inaugural faculty of the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine and contribute to the development of a new academic institution.

What We’re Looking For

  • BC/BE Anesthesiologist or PM&R physician.
  • Board certified in Pain Medicine.
  • Fellowship-trained in Interventional Pain Management.
  • Minimum of two years of experience serving as faculty for a pain fellowship program.
  • Academic leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong interest in chronic pain management, teaching, mentorship, and coaching.
  • Comfort with research and academic productivity alongside clinical practice.
  • Collaborative approach to building relationships across a growing referral network.
